How much MW3 XP do you get from Mountain Dew? Part Deux

by Dan on October 26, 2011

Last month, before the MW3 versions of Mountain Dew and Doritos hit store shelves, I had some information on the Rank Up Your Game promotion. Now that a few weeks have passed, the campaign is underway, and I’ve seen the drinks and snacks in stores (and I’ve bought some myself, because I am a Dew fan and this is a good excuse). But I am still getting some questions about how much XP you get for each bottle or pack or bag or whatever, and which packs give you the most double XP time. It’s not too tricky when you see the excellent chart over at rankupxp.com. Here’s the Mountain Dew matrix:

I actually like all these flavors…but Voltage owns.

That 90-minute Mega XP 20-pack is only available at Walmart (double what you’ll get for a 12-pack elsewhere) so if you are having a cooler full of Dew at your MW3 launch party, that’s the one to get. The site also mentions fountain cups (32 and 44 ounce) which are good for 15 minutes of XP each, but I’m not sure where you get those. Anybody know?

Now, here’s the Doritos end of things:

The big bag comes with big XP at Walmart.

Walmart again has the largest size with the largest XP reward, but this time they even have an exclusive flavor to go with it, Battle Black Pepper Jack. I may be one of the only people in America who does not live near a Walmart, so I haven’t seen them on shelves myself (others have reported that they definitely are on sale now), but I am curious hear what that tastes like.

If you enter a Dew and a Doritos code into the site at the same time, you get a combo bonus of an extra 15 minutes, so if you are chasing the rewards from this promotion, you should be aware of what you are redeeming and when. Plus, entering codes gives you chances to win MW3 swag and you’ll get Combat Cards. Every time you redeem a code, you also get a digital trading card; collect a set and you can turn in the set for more XP (kind of like the board game Risk, except you can trade cards with other people).

Aw, heck. It’s all explained here.

UPDATE: Having trouble finding Moutain Dew Game Fuel in your area? Digital Warfare 247 spotted this handy Mountain Dew locator online. Enter your desired flavor and your zip code, and that’ll tell you who near you is stocking what.

…and i’m still curious if it will be possible to transfer the xp time to a German XBOX account. We will see in a few days :)

Keep an eye out. At some convenience stores Pepsi has stuck some buy-2-get-$1-off coupons for Mountain Dew on the cooler door glass.

Is there a keygen out for it yet?
    (just kidding)

Just looked at the “leaderboard” on the site.  190hrs? That’s a lot of Mtn Dew.

  • Nick

I wonder why they excluded 2 liters from the codes? They have game fuel 2 liters but they’re codeless…

If anyone from Pepsi is reading this blog, why can’t I find the Tropical flavor of Game Fuel??  I’ve been able to find the Citrus Cherry flavor just fine (and in total droves at that), but the Tropical flavor has so far been elusive to me.

Any help you guys? (I live in the Southeast)

Mountain Dew makes your balls shrink.

    Haha. Silly myth is silly.

  • http://oneofswords.com/ Dan (OneOfSwords)

True. I mean, it’s true that it’s false. I mean Snopes says you are right that it’s a myth.

Man, it’s tough sometimes to get things right.

  • CapnMikeM

Got a lil over 2hrs stored up so far….but never getting citrus cherry again, blah!!!

Also the codes for Doritos are on the outside of the bag, seemed like an odd spot for it, no? Sure some will try and exploit this.

Are they in the open, or are they covered by something?

Battle Black Pepper Jack tastes less cheesy then normal Doritos, and it has a touch of pepper.  Imo, it is a less-flavorful version of Dorito.  Diet-Dorito might be the wrong term, and I hate chips blasted with flavor, but these lack taste.  I.E. they need to be eaten with dip/salsa.

There’s actually a science behind this.  This would be great to teach math.  How many bags/ soda would I need for 24 hours worth of XP time?

  • Håkon

why would you even get xp for buying this stuff?..why not just play the game? makes no sense at all.. and Dew here i Norway, yes we play mw besides riding our polarbears :) But Dew here in Norway tastes like sugerwater with bubbles, and we only have one flavour.

That’s why it’s optional. I mean, really, when McDonald’s does a Monopoly game, “why go there to play Monopoly? Why not just eat lunch?” One does not prevent the other. It’s there if you want it.

  • http://oneofswords.com/ Dan (OneOfSwords)

That actually sounds pretty good to me. I like flavor-blasted stuff, but a light cheese/pepper thing sounds pretty good to me. It wouldn’t overpower whatever I might be eating with it, if I was having chips with a meal.

Check your local Target. I’m in GA. They have the Tropical near me at about a 3:1 ratio…due to the fact that it tastes like watered down fruit punch, while the Citrus Cherry tastes and smells like Gummy Bears.

Can you get more then 1 set of each card?

  • http://twitter.com/CapnMikeM Mike Mahoney

they are in the open, not covered by anything…

  • http://twitter.com/CapnMikeM Mike Mahoney

just tried White Out today…it’s OK tasting.  I wanted to try Voltage but none of the bottles had the XP promo on them.  Finding the Doritos bags is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

  • http://twitter.com/Bionic92 Bionic92

    Yep. That’s not smart.

  • http://twitter.com/Bionic92 Bionic92

You are not getting XP. The codes allows you to get twice the amount of XP you would normally get for a short period of time. You still have to play to get the XP.

I have only seen them at Target, but like I said, no Walmart nearby. Have not checked convenience stores. I think they started rolling out Oct 10 so they would be properly placed by Nov 8. I bet retailers are selling existing stock for now.

I am not sure. I completed one set and it automatically counted it, but it did not wipe them out — I am guessing that means once you have them, you have them and can’t start over.

How about NOTHING AT ALL> First of all, I do not even drink mountain dew…I do not like the taste, and if I need that much caffeine I’ll drink a latte. But I bought some anyway for the points. I purchased about $15 worth of Mountain Dew last Tuesday when MW3 came
out….I only put in one code from one of my 20oz that I bought to see if it would even work, I redeemed the code, was told I would have double XP time, BUT I
still have not received any of the DOUBLE XP, and its been over two weeks. Talk
    about false advertising!

  • Alex

you do now it doesnt give you any warning it only starts giving you double xp right. try inputing another code go into baracks and in the bottom there will be another line that says xp and a certain amount of time.
