So when I thought about how I wanted to cover Call of Duty XP, I focused on the real-life experiences. I realize that, while a few pictures are fine, endless photos of people playing a game with their mouths open and headphones on is inherently boring to see. If you were into Call of Duty and had the chance/ability/means to go to XP, I figured you would, and if you were there, you would want to do some of the physical stuff, like paintball. So I got a head-mounted camera and did some of that stuff on your behalf.
You probably saw the zipline video, but the Call of Duty web team has also posted my paintball adventures in Scrapyard.
It’s worth noting that both still photographer Kat and our video cameraman Sean went into the arena armed only with cameras, and they both got hit in the making of this segment. Now, a Nikon D700 and a Panasonic HVX0-170 don’t look anything like a BT Omega M4 to me, but clearly, the paintball players wished them welt.
There are two more videos but I am not sure when they will be released — keep an eye on the official XP blog site, where I wrote blogs and Kat posted photos throughout the event. But when the other videos appear, I can’t wait to read the reactions on YouTube. ”Who is this fat guy?” Oh, YouTube commenters. You are so clearly superior to all other forms of life on this planet.
