GoldenEye 007: Reloaded due Nov 1 with special PS3 bundle

by Dan on September 14, 2011

If you’re a Bond fan and you’ve been looking forward to GoldenEye 007: Reloaded, here’s one or two bits of good news. We have a release date — November 1 — and the extra bit of good news is if you’re a PS3 owner. A special “Double O Edition” bundle is headed your way featuring the game a whole mess of extra hardware: a PlayStation Move controller, the matching navigation controller, a PlayStation Eye camera, and the Sharp Shooter, into which you load most of the above to make a bitchin’ light gun.

From Activision With Love

UPDATE: The bundle should run $149.99, on par with other Sharp Shooter bundles (I know SOCOM 4′s was the same price when it came out).

But here’s something that’s confirmed to be free for PS3 gamers: Hugo Drax from Moonraker is a free exclusive downloadable character, which means only PS3 gamers will be able to fry friends with his laser pistol. N64 gamers may still be nursing their wounds from that weapon.

On both PS3 and Xbox 360, Reloaded features 16-player matches online, 4-player split-screen combat, and the new Mi6 Ops mode, all of which run at 60 frames per second. There are some new screens over at the official Facebook page.

Oh YES!!!  The Moonraker gun is officially back on the PS3 version!!!  Hooray!!!  (Yes, I’m still nursing my wounds from that weapon, but I still love that weapon…)

It’s a new engine built specifically for this game, apparently. The Wii edition was built from the ground up. It’s not a port of the N64 game, more inspired by it.

Or maybe we are just as bad as all the other publishers who create content for one platform and not another. I accept this as a business tactic and a reality of gaming in a competitive market. I do not get angry about it, but I do not celebrate it.

For all the complaints about temporary exclusivity windows with CoD DLC from PS3 owners — “All platforms should be treated equally!” — I rarely see them call out the problems of permanent PS3-only content like the Joker levels in Batman:AA, Kratos in Mortal Kombat, or the extra stuff in Dead Space 2 — all of which are PS3-only, all of which are permanent and are never coming to any other platform. CoD DLC comes to other platforms after a short delay. I know; I checked. But here we have content that will NEVER cross over, and you cannot have true platform equality if these permanent content situations exist.

The gamers that complain about DLC delays don’t want equality; they want to be favored, and they are only angry when someone else is being favored.
