Win a Call of the Dead poster from Activision’s CS team

by Dan on May 9, 2011

The Call of the Dead posters I gave away last week were extra popular as soon as people realized they were gone — a lot of people have asked if I have any more to give away. I do not, but the Activision customer support team does — and they have come up with a fun way to give them out.

Basically, the CS team wants you to turn them into zombies. The Twitter profile pictures of ATVI_RandolphATVI_Bernard, ATVI_MikeyATVI_Dov, and ATVI_Flav are all fair game — follow them on Twitter, then zombify any one or all of them with your leet Photoshop skills. You can also use the images from the recent Community Playdate if you like them better. (If you don’t have Photoshop, you can do fairly powerful image editing at photoshop.com for free — just sign up for an account.) Then @reply on Twitter to one of the aforementioned CS folks with your entry — upload it as a Twitpic/Plixi/yfrog/whatever image service you like and include the hashtag #zombifysupport in your message so they can keep track of all the entries. You have until Monday, May 16 to get your entries in, and you can submit multiple entries to increase your chances (but you can only win one poster).

The team will then post their favorite photos to the photo gallery at facebook.com/ActivisionAssist and you will be able to vote on them. The three images with the most Likes on them take home posters, and the single image with the most amount of Likes also gets an Escalation map pack code for 360 or PS3 (your choice). Due to shipping costs (as well as the region lock on the DLC codes), this one’s North America only.

So…start thinking. Check out the images on those Twitter accounts, let the creative juices start seeping out like so much zombie effluvia, and get your entries in before this time next week. May the best zeds win!

UPDATE 5/17: Wow, check out the Facebook photo gallery!

These posters are awesome; these posters are worth a little effort. It’s a creative product and they want to see a little creativity in return. I wonder how many people who won my contest last week really cared — but I know that the people who do something to earn the prizes in this CS giveaway really will.

But for photoshop power users like me, it’s nice to be able to show-off every now and then. I’m with you when it comes to getting annoyed when random people win prizes that Id enjoy more.

In the end giveaways are usually to promote business though, so you have to consider that it will not only be cool for the CS team to see their faces zombified, the contest makes contextual sense and gets the word out that Activision has a CS team that can field complaints and frustrations.

Between this giveaway, your LoLCat giveaway and working two design related jobs, my mouse hand is going to be worn out by the weekend.

I won one of these from this contest. Man! This is a THICK poster. It’s printed on card
stock! Must have been pretty expensive to make with that and the 3D
blood ink, and the UV spot printing of “BRAINS” at the bottom. Maybe
even a metallic spot ink as well? Crazy!
