Last year, the Call of Duty Endowment — a charitable organization set up by Bobby Kotick to help unemployed veterans get jobs after returning home — set up what I called the easiest Memorial Day charity ever. It was a huge hit and it helped raise $50,000 for Hire Heroes USA, which then turned into $100,000.
This year, the Endowment has a new Facebook charity drive, and like last year, participation is almost effortless. For every person who “donates” their Facebook status between now and Monday, the Call of Duty Endowment will increase HHUSA’s funding by a buck — up to $50,000. Changing your Facebook status through this Facebook app is all you have to do.
This is a ridiculously easy way to support America’s veterans this Memorial Day. If you’d like to do even more, consider a PayPal donation to support Activision’s Tough Mudder team — they’re running a grueling athletic event this weekend to raise money for the Endowment as well.
Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend — and thank a veteran for it!
