NASCAR The Game 2011 visits Activision

by Dan on March 28, 2011

It’s a good Monday when you get into work and see this in your email:

The GameStop hauler and show car fresh from a race on the track in Fontana is on site today, featuring integrated PS3 and Xbox360 game consoles. Be among the first to try out NASCAR The Game 2011!

I grabbed my camera while most other people were at lunch.

Don't care who you are -- it's hard not to be impressed when you are standing next to a NASCAR vehicle.

Behold, NASCAR delivered directly to our door.

I tried both. I could not find the rocket launcher button on either version.

Some people just dove right into a race; others wanted to get under the hood and check out the options.

Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia makes several clean passes on the inside.

I asked and was told this is a retired Joey Logano car, but they take pride in presenting it the same way you'd see on race day.

This car is rated E for Everyone

The real deal!

No, they wouldn't let me get in. That's okay. I'd be terrified.

Joey also drives the Home Depot #20, but obviously, it makes sense to show off the GameStop livery in this case!

And this makes even more sense to show off in our parking lot.

NASCAR The Game 2011 ships Tuesday, March 29th. I’ll be posting a special giveaway in the morning.

Dan, I am so jealous of you right now. NASCAR is my favorite sport and I live and breath it. It is pretty hard to not be impressed by an 850 horsepower racing machine. Looking forward to tomorrow.

The Rocket Launcher caption in one of the above pics reminds me of a cheat in Infogrames’s NASCAR Heat 2002 from eons ago where you could fire snowballs in the Xbox version and I think tires in the PS2 version. Of course, these projectiles wrecked everyone in their path–which was a hoot in split screen multiplayer. I didn’t usually need that cheat, though…I’m just that good!

I will be getting this game tomorrow. Hope Gamestop takes pocket lint…
