GH DLC: February Mega Pack

by Dan on February 8, 2011

Fantastic month for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock DLC if you’re into metal. A new track from Children of Bodom’s upcoming album, two of Ozzy’s guitarists, and some disturbing Marilyn Manson for good measure, all at once? That doesn’t suck.

  • Children of Bodom – “Blooddrunk”
  • Children of Bodom – “Living Dead Beat”
  • Children of Bodom – “Was It Worth It”
  • Black Label Society – “Black Sunday”
  • Black Label Society – “Crazy Horse”
  • Black Label Society – “Parade of the Dead”
  • Firewind – “World on Fire”
  • Marilyn Manson – “Coma White”
  • Marilyn Manson – “Get Your Gunn”
  • Marilyn Manson – ”Tourniquet”

For those who don’t follow the members of Ozzy Osbourne’s extended musical family: ex-Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde is in Black Label Society, and current Ozzy guitarist Gus G is in Firewind. Prepare your fingers now — they are both excellent players and I would expect the challenge on these tracks to be high. And “Was It Worth It” will appear on Children of Bodom’s next album, Relentless Reckless Forever, but that won’t hit stores until March 8.

If you want everything in one package, it’s 1440 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live, $17.99 in the PlayStation Store, or 1800 Wii Points. If you prefer to pick and choose, you can download just the tracks you want for 160 MS Points/$1.99/200 Wii Points each. As with all DLC released since late September, these tracks are only compatible with GH:WoR. And if you’re on Xbox 360, the Guitar Hero VIP Pass dashboard app is free and makes browsing for new music a heck of a lot easier.

Rock, as always, on.

the setlist is good i like COB and BLS…well mostly more COB and Manson wellllll, not really I don’t like manson at all except like 2 or 3 songs….if there is one thing I would like to complain it would be about the Lip Sync on the lead singer new DLCs that have been rolling out….the singer in the game doesnt even look like he is forming words so there is something wrong with that, I know maybe I’m focusing on something stupid but seriously dude I can’t help but notice that, I think that should be patched man it just looks bad….I don’t know if it has to do with the people that are now handling note tracking but I would tell em to fix that….because to me that is a bug, to make it more simple play any of the modern DLCs we’ve been having and focus on the singer, you’ll see what I’m talking about…focus on the mouth of the singer and compare the new DLC to Bohemian Rhapsody….you will truly notice a huge difference…

sorry about writing all that but I just had to tell someone so yeah, to shed some light on this issue

Dan please answer…so are the rumors true?….GH is dead no more GH games no more DLC?…..why? why? I have been faithful to the GH series since it first came out this is not fair, does that mean we wont see any more DLC?

This is stupid I know, but I loved Guitar Hero so much that this kind of rumor made me drop a tear to my eye….I can understand full stop production of games, but please don’t stop the DLC

I am not expecting any more DLC after this pack. They might release some of the stuff that was in the works when the plug was pulled, but if that’s the case, I don’t have a date on when that would come out. Could be next month, could be three, could be never.

Sorry — it’s still expensive to make the DLC, as there are a lot of licensing fees that need to be paid to make it.

Alright then fine, if Activision did give the axe to guitar hero….then sell the franchise to someone who will keep it going and that actually cares for it….apparently for activision, games have to make billions of dollars otherwise it wont work, not every franchise gives you that kind of money….you still had a pretty strong fanbase who kept buying the titles, like myself. I rather see it in the hands of other companies than Activision, I’m sorry but I am rleady seeing the same kind of death for COD, once people start buying less COD games, Activision will give it the axe. Then comes in WoW, since Activision is now working with Blizzard, they will also whore out WoW. But I don’t blame the people that work at Activision, I blame the CEO from Activision for making retarded decisions…so lets thank Kotick for killing wonderful and fun franchises, yaaaay! (sarcasm)

They are not interested in selling the franchise; they are interested in giving it a rest.

The sales are very telling. Sales were strong three years ago and have dropped off so sharply in the last three years that they can no longer afford to make the games, especially considering the licensing fees for master tracks that have come to typify the game.

That’s not a “retarded” decision; it might not be popular, it might not be what you want, but it is very well supported by actual data.

Nobody said GH was never coming back ever. They just said there’s no game for 2011, and nothing is currently in development. Don’t overreact — we have plenty of other people to do that.
