Black Ops First Strike DLC – full trailer

by Dan on January 25, 2011

Remember how last weeks’ developer sneak peek at the First Strike DLC pack didn’t show anything of the new zombie map, Ascension? Looks like they were saving that for the full trailer:

As the trailer notes, the pack will be available February 1 on Xbox 360 (like, a week from today) for 1200 Microsoft Points. The PS3 and PC versions don’t have release dates yet, but they’re in the works too.

It really kind of sucks that the PS3 and PC people are made to wait. The original game was released together, so why can’t the DLC be released together too? Those of us on PS3 and PC want to play these too. Just my two cents anyway.

I wasn’t thrilled to find out that MOH and Dead Space had exclusive content only on PS3 either. What’s more, those games’ extra content is never being released to other consoles, but at least with COD, it’s just a delay.

It’s clearly just how the biz works — exclusivity deals are part of reality now.

I can except exclusive things for the most part, but I find the delayed DLC, especially when it’s only a month or so, is pointless. I just don’t see the upside in that case as I highly doubt someone who only has one of the systems will go buy another system, the game, and the dlc (along with an xbox live gold account in this case) just because they’d have to wait a month otherwise.

Exactly… I understand Exclusivity as well, it’s why I have a Wii so that I can play games like Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, Zelda: Twilight Princess, etc. because they are only available on that platform. Up until this last Final Fantasy Game, you could only play the major releases (7, 8, 9, etc.) on the Playstation Platform since FFVII. It’s like Smelloscope said, what’s the point of delaying content if you’re going to release it eventually anyway, does it really do anything to boost sales? If it were a smaller company, I could understand the delay more because of a lack of programmers to port from one console to the next, etc. but in this case, I really don’t think it’s a lack of programmers and being able to adapt everything from XBox to PS3 to PC.

I think it must have an impact on sales or they wouldn’t do it. Gamers are not known for being patient people, and I suppose the lure of having something FIRST creates platform loyalty.
