Linkin Park DLC coming for GH & DJ

by Dan on October 14, 2010

Remember the other day when I suggested there were any number of reasons why you wouldn’t hear a DLC announcement for a given week? One of those that I threw out for consideration was “a surprise.” Well…surprise! Linkin Park is coming as DLC to not just Guitar Hero but DJ Hero 2 as well.

First, Guitar Hero will get a six-song DLC pack of Linkin Park tracks on Tuesday, October 19th, for 960 Microsoft Points/1200 Wii Points/$11.99 on PS3 (or the usual prices for individual tracks). The six songs in question are “Blackout,” “Burning In The Skies,” “The Catalyst,” “The Messenger,” “Waiting For The End,” and “Wretches And Kings” — all from the band’s most recent album A Thousand Suns, which is a concept album about nuclear war and a departure for the band. And if you buy either GH:WoR or DJ Hero 2 from Amazon next week (between the 17th and the 23rd), you’ll get a copy of the album A Thousand Suns for free. (That’s US only, for what it’s worth.)

Why is DJ Hero 2 part of that offer? Glad you asked — three Linkin Park mixes are headed for the DJ Hero 2 DLC library this winter. They’re not saying what songs, but speculation is part of the fun, I guess.

Awesome! Hope the DJ Hero songs are from the first 2 albums (or the remix one) :)

LOL… a “departure” for a band that has gone from decent to mediocre to crappy in the span of 3 albums just sounds scary. I just started listening to Blackout on youtube… think I’ll pass on trying out the others.

    6 songs for $11.99
Glad I’m not a fan of Linkin Park

thats probably the worst songs from the worst album they could have ever picked from LP.

Remember, DLC is optional. If it’s not for you, don’t buy it.

Kind of an odd choice for GH DLC. What guitar is in this album is buried pretty deep in the mix for the most part. I can’t see spending $12 on this even if I liked the songs.

Are people really complaining about it being 12 bucks? This has been done before – entire sections of OXM were devoted to showing the mass stupidity that there’s more to a song than plopping it into a blender and out comes DLC. I guess we live in the “iTunes” dollar store society where anything and everything good should be 99 cents…or free.
