Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions out today!

by Dan on September 7, 2010

The wait is over — Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions swings into retail shelves today (come on, everybody else got to make that dumb joke, I want to make it too), and the early response from the press is very positive.

"Just your friendly neighborho -- whoa, GamePro really likes me!"

GamePro: 4.5 out of 5.0

“Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions made a lot of promises that I wasn’t sure it was going to keep. [...] But after three full days of web swinging, wall crawling, and old-fashioned fisticuffs across several amazing, action-packed levels, I’ve never been happier to be wrong. Shattered Dimensions is easily one of the best Spider-Man games I’ve played yet.”

"You know, you bad guys oughta...hey, Game Informer digs me too!"

Game Informer: 8.5 out of 10

“All of Shattered Dimensions’ disparate game types flow seamlessly together [...] It’s one of the best Spider-Man titles in recent memory, if not the best Spider-Man title to date.”

"I like to keep up with modern times, but...whoa, hi there, IGN!"

IGN: 8 out of 10

“If you think you’ve seen it all with Spider-Man games, think again [...] There’s a sense of drama in Shattered Dimensions that has been missing from Spidey games for years.”

More reviews are incoming; I generally keep an eye on Metacritic and GameRankings to see what’s been posted, but I always click through to the original site, and you should too. A score is not a review — find out how and why a writer came to their conclusion by reading their actual work.

UPS just dropped off my copy from Amazon, can’t wait to dive into it. I played an entire level of the game at Best Buy yesterday and loved it (2099 Spidey).

My favorite Spider-Man game to this day was the original one released on the PlayStation One by Activision I believe. I didn’t like the 2nd one so much, Enter Electro.

i’ve just ordered it online, will take 7-10 days to reach my country (India),
it is launching here, but activision being greedy charges more for their games than other companies, eg- ea, ubi, scee/scea, sega etc.. all sell most games for 2,500 (local currency), but activision insists on selling it for 3,200 or 3,500.. konami are the same.. not only do they charge extra, but they only release games for the ps3 here.. since i have a ps3 it doesnt affect me, but the xbox360 ppl who cant import are stuck without having the game at all!!

That was published by Activision, and developed by Neversoft. Great game.

Wow, I want to play this game now! I’m a Batman fan until the day I die, but maybe I could make room for a friendly neighborhood spider…? If Bats doesn’t mind. XD
Thanks for posting the awesome screenshots!
