DJ Hero bundle just $50 this week at Target, Best Buy, Amazon, GameStop

Yes, yes, y’all. If you’ve been waiting to get DJ Hero, this is your week to grab a great deal. Both Best Buy and Target [UPDATE: and Amazon and GameStop] are selling the DJ Hero bundle with turntable for $50 this week — your choice of PS3, Wii, or Xbox 360. The prices are good in-store as well as online.

I rock the house party at the drop of a hat for fifty bucks.

What’s more, Best Buy is selling the standalone turntable for just $20 — and I’ve gotten reports that some stores are giving you that turntable free with purchase of the main bundle. I haven’t confirmed this yet, but it’s worth a call to the store to find out.

This is an exceptionally good deal because there is no revised or upgraded hardware for DJ Hero 2, which ships in October, and it features new multiplayer modes that are major upgrades. There’s a Party Bundle that comes with a microphone and both a graphite turntable and a white turntable, sort of like the Renegade Edition had a black and gold version last year — but the tech inside all the controllers is the same. Some folks have told me that they waited on DJ1 because they thought there’d be a new turntable with new functionality, but that’s not the case — it’s all in the software, and the current hardware is all you actually need to play the sequel (and if you want to sing in the sequel, use whatever USB microphone you may already own from existing music games). So for this price, it makes sense to get up to speed on the first game and prepare your skills for the second.
