Ask Matt Tieger your questions

Transformers: War for Cybertron has been out for about a month now, and reviews were good. Mad props  to the gang at High Moon Studios for bringing a lot of respect and fan love to the project; they made an enjoyable, quality game for both diehard and casual fans.

The design team was led by Matt Tieger, an avowed Decepticon fan who you may remember from an epic podcast interview on episode 010. I have somehow lured him back to appear on the show next week, and this time, you get to ask the questions. You’ve played the game; what would you like to ask the development team about what you experienced? Matt says he’s game to tackle your queries. Make the most of this opportunity and ask a thoughtful, answerable question that can’t be answered with “yes” or “no.” That’s my only advice — the rest is up to you. And yes, I will ask him about DLC.

Get your questions into my email box by Monday the 26th and I’ll pick the best ones to ask him on episode 027 next week.

UPDATE 7/27: Matt answered every question I threw at him, including the ones in the comments that were phrased, let’s say, in an impolite manner. I cleaned up the presentation before I asked them, and I am happy to say the show with the Q&A will be posted tomorrow morning.

    This is a farse …..a joke in some way HMS / Activision never get all the bad news … fact is -> your Game died out – you killed the half of the community before it could rise yourself in not responding to the community in any way. Posting a month after then anywhere that your game runs good and you are listening to all the fans …

    The #1 non-yes/no question on everyone's mind — what is High Moon's plan for correcting the numerous multiplayer issues (long connection times, lost connections, lag and lack of host migration)?

    How come you guys haven't released a patch that stops the freezing when playing online, timed out issues and being kicked out of a friends game along with host migration? This game is good instead of great due to these issues. All my other games work fine online.

    how come you guys dont answer emails, direct phone calls, faxes? why have you treated us pc gamers like every other developer with a multisystem release? if you dont plan to update or expand the pc version of the game, why did you further piss us off by locking it so we cant do it ourselves? why are you such a liar, sheesh i thought obama fed us a line of bull before he got what he wanted.

    When do you plan to support the PC version of the game? HM has been completely mum about anything PC related. Some issues that need addressing is 'in game chat' as well as server connection issues, host migration. Or is the PC version of the game not in any future plans of Hm?Thanks!

    My questions will likely be addressed, but I'll ask it anyway to be sure. There are three.

    First question. Multiplayer connection issues for the PS3 are not very stable. While I enjoy the game very much, there are plenty of moments where the game either kicks out due to this instability, has a lousy connection for everyone involved or (as has been mentioned) freezes. Will this issue ever be addressed, or is the best we can hope for is this mentioned “ammo patch” and that's all?

    A second question regarding the PC game–will you be planning some kind of patch that allows for PC uses to be able to map their keys as before? Locking keys on a PC game is probably one of the worst ideas, so I would hope this can be fixed, or at the very least kept in mind for future games–do NOT lock key commands on a PC game.

    My last question–back to the PS3 game. There is an alternate control option that takes the transforming button off of the L3 (left control stick button) and places it as the triangle option. The weapons switch that was originally there goes to the 'up' arrow pad. Can we get a patch that can allow us to do the same thing with the melee attack (R3) button–say, place it to the square and have the reload button be on one of the arrow pads? I am constantly causing my characters to swing their melee weapon while I'm trying to slightly direct their aim at a target, and just before firing they're swinging at nothing, which leaves me vulnerable. Being able to change out the transform L3 button was a life-saver; is there any chance we'll be able to do the same with the Melee R3 button?

    1) When will we get a patch that fixes issues occurring in online play (eg loss of XP due to host exiting game and chronic game freezes; wedging oneself into the environment; falling through floors)?
    2) Why aren’t Dead End and Zeta Prime being included in the first DLC pack?
    3) For those of us who love gestalts, will character team packs in the near future (eg Constructicons, Protectobots, Technobots, Terrorcons, Aerialbots, Predacons, etc.)—not their combined forms, just their individual forms worked into the game’s existing classes.
    4) Can we expect High Moon Studios to release something similar to Metal Gear Solid 4’s free DLC that explains matters not clear/talked about in the actual story—a bible of sorts.
    5) When can we expect to see additional colors added to customization, and will colors limited to Decepticons be available for the Autobots and vice versa?
    6) Is there any chances we’ll see DLC in the form of story expansions, featuring new/old bosses moving the story forward or will all future DLC continue to be non-story related content?
    7) How does the hit detection work for the soldier’s whirlwind attack? I can not jump over it, meaning it hits high, and I cannot transform to get underneath the attack, meaning it hits low too; is it supposed to hit high, middle and low?

    Is there any news on when we can get a patch for this game? I have not played for 2 weeks because of the network connectivity issues. I love this game and you guys at HMS did a wonderful job with the design and gameplay… I would just like to be able to take advantage of the multiplayer.

    Why has the PC verion been so blatently ignored? With the engine the game was designed on, the lack of several important features is an insult to the creators, or was the lack of these features intentional? Seriously …

    I hope you are going to fix the multiplayer, I see there is new content available for the ONLINE ONLY part of the game. Maybe your team should fix this if you want me to spend money on it.

    Are they gonna make a Sequel?
    Will they Fix Online Connectivity of the Game with a Patch?
    Will we see anymore Future DLC Packs(Story) other than the one we are receiving tomorrow?
    Is High Moon Studios Pleased with the overall feedback for the Game?

    Hey Guys loved it, Best Transformers game ever. I was disappointed that there was no Megatron fight in the campaign and i'm sure you guys have your reasons and if you get a Sequel or Extra chapters through DLC, Would it be possible to fight him then.

    Free DLC? That's not going to make the community play any more than paid DLC will, and we have that.

    Will we ever see Hot Rod,Ultra Magnus and Grimlock on the console.They totally rocked in the DS version.

    Hope to see them them in a expansion/side story with Magnus leading a small unit (Wreckers) consisting of Grimlock and Hot Rod against Megatron forces.

    since the feedback link never worked:
    I am 35 years old and a transformer fan since it all started, the game is off the chain! (very good) lol. You guys did a wonderful job, thanks alot. I would just like to make some small suggestions.

    1) The autobot and decepticon drones that u fight in story mode should be used in multiplayer, the more chassis the better, 5 more colors each for multiplayer as well.

    2) The unlockables such as Jazz, Shockwave, Slipstream, Onslaught, etc. should also be used in story mode, i know you have a verbal script but just take names out or well you know best how to fix that small problem.

    3) Well we have come to it DLC, i'll pay whatever for it lol.(this is important for the long life of the game along with a High Moon Transformers forum to keep us all together!

    Ok here we go, i know the first thing the everyone wants is more transformers so a easy way to this could be to start off with new skins were they would fit best with little changes to the models. The sizes should vary no matter the model mix it up a bit.

    ex:
    1) Prime's model: Ultra Magnus, Motormaster
    2) Ratchet's model: Skids, Mixmaster
    3) Zeta Prime's model: Hotspot (protectobot), Longhaul
    4) Bumble bee's model: Cliffjumper, Rumble
    5) Sideswipe's model: Sunstreaker, Dragstrip
    6) Jazz's model: Prowl, Wildrider
    7) Iron Hide's model: Trailbreaker, Swindle
    8) Arcee's model: Elita one, Moonracer
    9) Jetfire's model: Powerglide, Blastoff
    10) Silverbolt's model: Blades (protectobot), Vortex.
    and the same for the decepticon models.

    Maps: More maps that reflect the story mode areas.
