And you can’t ignore it, because as I walked in the front door of the building today, I saw posters for Transformers: War for Cybertron all over the windows of the lobby. And inside the lobby, there was a giant HDTV showing the game, and two guys handing out t-shirts (some of which I’m giving away) reminding everybody to come to one of the biggest conference rooms in the building later in the day to get your multiplayer on.
The room was decked out in red and purple lights, featuring a huge banner -- and Optimus's decapitated head. Guess the Decepticons won.
Everyone was invited to try single-player or multiplayer...but the multiplayer was in live games against real people online. None of this "go easy on me, it's launch day" stuff for Activision.
Brand Manager Gary Lai is understandably happy with the 9.0 out of 10 rating from IGN's review...
Later in the day, music, drinks, and food. And yes, no joke -- the music was "The Touch" by Stan Bush. It HAD to be!
The cupcakes were sprinkled with color-coded sugar: Autobot red and Decepticon Purple. I admit to eating both an Autocake and a Decepticake.
Transformers: War for Cybertron was developed by High Moon Studios (here’s my quick video tour of their offices). Big props to them, as they approached this project as the big TF fans they are, and it shows – reviews are positive so far.
I’m planning an online multiplayer session next week after everybody levels up a bit (including me). Meanwhile, why not enter to win your very own t-shirt just like the ones in the photos!
