Let’s play Guitar Hero 5 on Xbox Live 5/14

I am happy to announce that I’m doing an official Microsoft Community Playdate on Friday, May 14th on Xbox Live, along with my podcast co-hosts Katrin “Celticat” Auch and Hugh “Fatboughl 2″ Sterbakov. We will have our Guitar Hero 5 instruments up and ready to rock by 9pm Eastern/6pm Pacific — and of course it won’t be much fun if you don’t join us.

I will find some interesting stage clothes for my Avatar

We’ll be looking to do co-op games and competitive matches; either’s fine, and we’re all at different skill levels on different instruments. I’d like to see if Kat and Hugh and I can be in the same band for at least part of the event, and maybe that way we can do some showdowns. But I do like the RockFest multiplayer modes and would like to check some of those out, either as a team or as solo players.

    Would love to play with you guys, but I don't have a copy of GH5. Maybe I'll borrow a friends. Oh and the muliplayer modes are so much better than the ones in GH3.

    I'd like to do that if I can get on at that time. The baby goes to bed at 8:30 EST so I can't be loud. I'll have to play bass or guitar I guess. (though I'm probably better at drums, I'm not bad at bass/guitar)

    The “playdate” thing on the dashboard says to send you a game invite. Is that right or are you going to some how watch for these names to come up online? (secret MS majik)

    Oh, and I need most of those full band achievements. :) 8x all at once, things like that…

    There is no secret ninja magic; I am not using anything special. I am just looking at incoming requests for games and taking whatever we have time to take!

    OK, so I apparently need more instruction next time. How do you send a game invite to some one not on your friends list. I sent a message and a party invite. Neither were answered so either that wasn't correct or I just didn't get in.

    (amazing how few people are playing MP stuff, I couldn't find any sort of ranked match, but did get in some quickplay)

    You did it right, and we tried to join you, but we could only play with so many people at a time. You didn't get in, but it wasn't for lack of trying. We circled back throughout the full event, but many people had switched games or logged off when their initial invites went unanswered. We also got trapped in a 20-minute game when we were trying to keep things to one song per group.

    Yeah I logged off after the first hour as I thought It was only an hour long, but saw your tweet that it was still going and got back on.
