Let’s play Blur this Friday

by Dan on March 8, 2010

The Blur multiplayer beta officially starts today; if you’re one of the lucky ones who got a code, you should be receiving an email with your Xbox Live code, which will let you download the software. If you haven’t gotten a code yet, you still have a chance to win one; several sites are still giving them away, and so am I — watch this video for details.

So with all this multiplayer hullabaloo, it seems like a good time to test out the Playing With Swords thing I’ve wanted to do for a little while. Many weeks back I asked people when they would like to get together for gaming, and Friday night was the clear winner of the poll. So, let’s try it this Friday night at 6pm Pacific/9pm Eastern. I’ll be on and I’ll be doing Powered-Up Racing in Blur, which supports up to 20 players. My gamertag is OneOfSwords:

My friends list is kinda massively packed but you should be able to use the Join Session functionality and hop in my race if there’s a free slot. An Xbox Live Party only holds eight people so I’m less inclined to do it that way.

I gave it a shot last night and enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. I've never been into Kart racing games but this game is a blast. I love the fact that your power-ups are right there on your back bumper so you never need to take your eyes off the road.
Bizarre Creations did a nice job of blending the arcade combat of a Kart racer with the driving and physics of a racing sim. I will be on later on Friday, hopefully you'll still be playing.

I'll be there, looking forward to it.

I got a strong “Wipeout with wheels” vibe from it too. In a good way, because I was one of those people who could not stop hitting the walls in Wipeout. It's nice to know how the vehicle will control right away, and then just focus on the power-ups and attacks.

Just thinking it'll be easier in the future if people just post their gamertags/ psn ids and dan just sends a game invite to everyone, mass mailing is allowed at least on live don't know about psn
