Fact Check: Was Rosensweig fired?

by Dan on February 2, 2010

I’m going to run Fact Check posts every so often, when info gets lost in translation, and forgive me if this first one looks really boring to you, since it’s about business. But those of you who follow business news will note that there’s been a promotion at Activision — David Haddad is running the GH biz now. David was COO at Sierra Games, so he knows his interactive stuff.

But that means someone left the company in order to open that position, right? Right. Dan Rosenswieg (who used to be COO of Yahoo [update 2/3: sorry, I originally said he was CEO]) moved on for another opportunity. And that’s of his own free will; there’s a rumor that he was fired, and that’s not true. In fact I can’t find anything to suggest where that came from, and there’s no other source.

My press past still drives me; I dislike rumors and I dislike misinformation. Like I said, if you want to know the truth about Activision, that’s what I’m here for.

I don't believe anything that comes from Arrington or any of his properties. That's all I'm going to say about that.

Rosenswieg has nothing to be ashamed of. The genre may have declined from oversaturation but the mechanics of Guitar Hero 5 made it the best entry in the series yet.
