One of Swords Podcast 001: The Saga Begins

by Dan on January 28, 2010

On the inaugural show we talk about Transformers, Haiti, iPads, punching Windows PCs, colon cleansing, Dan’s dark past as a child actor, the future of Marvel games at Activision, what Dan’s “allowed to say,” how (and why) he moved to Activision, Corey Feldman, an indecent mailbag proposal, and oh yeah, that Spider-Man quote. We also interview Treyarch’s Josh Olin about Call Of Duty: World at War: Zombies Lite on iPhone, which is unfortunately abbreviated as CoD:WaW:ZL and therefore unpronouncable.

And hey, up there in the show number — you like the two leading zeroes in front of the one? That’s the headline of an optimist.

This is what I saw when I called Hugh to start recording:

And last but not least, Hugh’s gamercard:

And seriously, thank you for the support. I was pretty surprised how many people sent me notes asking when this would be up; I think I underestimated interest and demand. If for some reason you like hearing me talk about crap, I’m flattered, and happy to oblige.

I’m also working on improving sound quality and reducing file size for next show, plus I’m still experimenting with different microphones and gear, and mine sounds a little tinny by comparison to Hugh’s. It’ll be a learning process, so bear with me.

Finally! Nice to see the project taking its form. Great job, and good luck in the new show. You already got a big fan from Brazil.

BTW, am I the first comment in the first podcast? hehe

Awesome. I've been waiting for this.

Gonna give it a listen to as soon as it's done downloading.

Oh my gorsh, three podcasts to listen too… but looking forward to the time spent listening.

I still can't believe you got a gig with Activision of all people. It's like that advice you hear sometimes: Treat a girl poorly enough, and she'll end up going out with you.

Hmmm…not showing up in itunes. Guess I will just download it manually.

At the risk of sounding like Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons, the upcoming Transformers: War for Cybertron isn't the first time they've shown the Transformers origin before they came to Earth. There was a comic series called Transformers: The War Within that covered this ground and showed their pre-Earth vehicle forms. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transformers:_The_...

LOL…we actually address that one on the show.

Dan (OneOfSwords) January 29, 2010 at 8:41 pm

After we recorded, I knew I was going to get busted for this. You are completely right.

I pinged iTunes to try to goose it. I found the listing didn't update, but the actual feed did within iTunes. I redownloaded it this AM with a fresh subscription, and several of my others worked find if I told it to update.

Great cast Dan! But tell Treyarc to port Zombies over to the Android!
